School Independent Educational Evaluations
Dr. Ghilain is frequently hired by school districts to provide independent educational evaluations (IEE) for students. These evaluations are often requested in education law matters relating to school districts and petitioners, particularly in cases concerning a student’s appropriate educational planning, accommodations, or interventions.
What to Expect at an Independent Educational Evaluation
As detailed below, these independent evaluations are comprehensive assessments designed to better understand a child’s strengths and weaknesses. The evaluation considers background history (developmental, medical, family, educational, and social) as well as the student’s current educational placement.
Through a combination of interviews with appropriate school personnel, parents, and the child, along with structured tasks (such as paper-and-pencil tests, tablet-based tasks, or computer assessments), Dr. Ghilain assesses multiple areas of functioning.
